Why You Should
Be A Volunteer
The State of Georgia named Social
Circle a Better Hometown Community in 1996. Since then
we have had many accomplishments in improving,
revitalizing and preserving our small town. The
purpose of the Better Hometown Program is to involve
citizens to improve our community. To do this we want
to bring people together in order to improve the
community.
The Better Hometown Program has committees made up
of volunteers that are interested in helping us achieve these
goals. You can help us too!
The Design Committee is interested in the downtown
streetscape which includes: sidewalk improvements, tree
replacements, benches, trash receptacles, decorations for all
the seasons and events and the City Wide Clean-up. If you
enjoy planning and decorating then this is a great place for
you to serve.
Community Promotion Committee is responsible for making
our community events successful. These events include: Easter
Egg Hunt, City Wide Yard Sale, July 4th
Celebration, Friendship Festival, and Celebrating a Community
Christmas. If you enjoy parties and celebrations
you can serve on one or all of the events. This committee is
by far the busiest and largest committee; they need every
person that is willing to participate in making these events
happen.
Visitors Center is also run by volunteers. The hours
vary on participation of volunteers, but most importantly it
is the resource center for our tourists. If you enjoy people
and want specific days of community service we would love for
you to help us let people know about “Georgia’s Greatest
Little Town”.
